Getting Started with HandyTix- What You'll Need

HandyTix is designed for quick and easy set-up... to have you up and running as soon as possible. No special hardware to buy, no complicated software to install, no frustrating networks to configure.

And although HandyTix is also available as an in-house system (where the ticketing database and server is installed at your premises), most organizations find the simplicity of our fully hosted option to be more suitable for their needs (where the ticketing database is hosted on our servers). There's no difference in the cost of either option.

With the HandyTix hosted system, you just need a standard PC with high speed Internet connection. There’s no software to be installed (just some files to be saved to your computer), no in-house servers, and no networked workstations to set up.

And you don’t need to be an IT genius either — in fact, we can typically get you up and running, selling tickets, within 5-10 working days. It's that easy.

But to ensure your new Internet enabled box office will run like a well oiled machine, we recommend the following minimum hardware and software specs.:

Hardware

  1. Personal computer with at least a Pentium II processor (or equiv.) running at 400 MHz
  2. 128 MB memory
  3. 4GB hard drive
  4. 17" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution
  5. Standard desktop printer for printing reports (and optionally for printing tickets)
  6. FGL-compatible thermal ticket printer for printing tickets ( FGL version 41 or above)
  7. Cable modem, DSL modem, or Ethernet card to connect to high-speed Internet
  8. V.90/56K modem as back up
  9. Optional access control hardware such as wireless scanners for barcoded tickets
Software
  1. Windows 2000, XP or Vista are recommended
  2. Flash enabled browser
Internet Connection
  1. DSL, satellite, cable, or other high-speed Internet connection with at least 512K upload/download
  2. Access to standard phone line for emergency direct-dial backup service via 56K modem, in case of primary Internet service interruption is recommended for box office systems
Payment Gateways/Merchant Accounts
To receive payments into your account, you will also need to sign up with a Payment Gateway and establish a Merchant Account with your bank.

In-house System
For larger organizations, HandyTix offers the option of an in-house system.

In this configuration you set up an Internet connection to your server at your venue and we install the ticketing software remotely over the internet.  For larger sites, we suggest servers such as Dell Power Edge with Windows server operating system and MS SQL server Standard edition.
Smaller sites might use XP Professional operating system with MS SQL Express.
